Introduction
Under the EU4Health programme, the Joint Action JADEHealth has officially begun, involving 17 countries, 22 Affiliated Entities, and 8 Associated Partners. Among its 10 Work Packages (WP), WP7 focuses on the prevention of dementia and stroke. This contribution has been presented by the leading and co-leading team of the WP7 and the coordinator of the JADEHealth project on behalf of the whole WP7 working-group.

Methods
WP7 aims to characterise prevention strategies for dementia and stroke in the participating countries supporting policies formulation. Four main tasks (T) have been identified to achieve this goal: T7.1) identification and characterisation of prevention strategies; T7.2) collection of epidemiological data on risk factor prevalence and estimation of preventable cases; T7.3) implementation of a pilot intervention to apply best practices in field of prevention; T7.4) definition of key elements for a harmonised approach to monitoring risk factors and interventions.

Results
During the initial months of the project, Tasks 7.1 and 7.2 were launched with a focus on identifying key national and subnational documents, plans, or strategies related to dementia and stroke prevention, and mapping national data collection systems for the prevalence of known risk factors. As part of T7.1, 17 entities across 10 countries provided information on relevant documents available in their territories. Meanwhile, under T7.2, 11 entities from 9 countries shared details on existing data sources, particularly surveillance systems and representative cohorts, used to monitor risk factors within their populations.

Conclusions
The systematic collection of data, the development of coordinated prevention strategies for dementia and stroke, and their monitoring at both European and national/sub-national levels will help optimise cost-effectiveness by reducing fragmentation and duplication of efforts, as well as the inequitable use of resources and disparities in population coverage.
